A senior faculty member of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Port City International University (PCIU), Prashanta Kumar Shil, participated as a keynote speaker at the international conference titled “China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2026”, held at the University of Sindh in Pakistan.
The conference was organized by the Area Study Centre for Far East & South East Asia of the University of Sindh, in collaboration with the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS), University of Sindh. It was funded by the Sindh Higher Education Commission, Karachi. The two-day international conference took place on February 11 and 12.
At the conference, Prashanta Kumar Shil presented his research paper titled “Bangladesh’s Regime Change and Realignment: An Analysis of China-Pakistan Economic and Political Convergence.” In his study, he highlighted the strategic significance of the China-Pakistan-Bangladesh triangular framework in South and East Asia. He emphasized that through economic cooperation and security alliances, the three countries can safeguard mutual interests and ensure regional stability and territorial security.
Researchers, academics, and policymakers from China, Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and other countries participated in the conference. In the context of international relations and regional geopolitics, in-depth analysis and policy discussions on CPEC were among the main attractions of the event.
It is worth noting that the University of Sindh is one of the oldest and most prestigious public universities in South Asia. The conference is regarded as one of the most significant academic events in the region in the field of international relations.
